New LineScanner Design Improves Insulating Glass Inspection at Weber + Wagener
Scope of Delivery: 16-bit glass quality inspection, AI-based defect categorization, complete data archive, and CCA2 service contract on a brand-new insulating glass line
[Freudenberg, Germany] — Softsolution has successfully commissioned the new LineScanner Design at Weber + Wagener GmbH & Co. KG in Freudenberg. The technical acceptance was completed successfully at the same time. The company has been a valued partner of Softsolution for many years and stands for a consistent focus on quality and demanding requirements in insulating glass processing.
Commissioning took place on a brand-new LISEC TPA IG line and was carried out together with Managing Director Nils-Christian Plaum and Authorized Signatory Robin Wickel. The new, especially compact hardware design of the LineScanner also premiered, marking its first installation in Germany. Acceptance testing took place during ongoing production, with all system functions fully aligned and precisely validated.
The result: Mr. Plaum and his team confirm smooth integration and convincing performance data. Particular emphasis is placed on the 16-bit image evaluation with 65,536 grayscale levels, which enables precise homogenization of transmission levels and reliably detects low-contrast defects such as coating flaws or inclusions. Purpose-built glass rotation encoders enable precise defect positioning and artifact size determination, even for special shapes with individually stored tolerance settings. This is complemented by a neural network that automatically and reliably distinguishes defect categories such as scratches, contamination, fingerprints, or coating damage. All inline. All-in-one system.
“Our collaboration with Softsolution has accompanied us for years – and every new installation shows how much experience and dedication have gone into this technology. With the new LineScanner, we now have exactly the system we needed on our LISEC line: compact, powerful, and easy to operate.”
– Nils-Christian Plaum, Managing Director, Weber + Wagener GmbH & Co. KG
Another milestone is the complete archiving of all scan data, including clear assignment to the respective order data. All scan results are documented without gaps and can be retrieved at any time. The archive view is dynamically structured and offers the same evaluation options as the operator terminal during ongoing production. In addition, you can generate a customer certificate for each scan or pane and send it directly to the customer.
With the extended service contract (CCA2), a service technician also conducts an annual on-site visit. This ensures proactive maintenance, supports high system availability, and includes additional staff training on new functions, plus practical guidance and application tips.
This commissioning once again underscores that the LineScanner, now also in its new, even more compact design, represents the future-proof solution for the highest quality demands in insulating glass production.
