Setting the standard in quality control.

The Osprey® 10 Complete is the only system on the market that measures both optical distortion and anisotropy while meeting and exceeding the requirements of leading architects and glass suppliers. Developed in partnership with Stress Photonics, the global supplier of optical stress analysis, our revolutionary detection measures anisotropy, flatness, and over 15 types of optical distortion.

Optical distortion in glass is caused by a lack of flatness

Using patented optics, high-speed cameras, and powerful algorithms, the Osprey 10 Distortion and Osprey 10 Complete measures all types of optical distortion NOT just roller wave or edge kink distortion.

Anisotropy causes iridescence. This occurs when unbalanced residual temper stress selectively reflects naturally polarized light such as blue sky or water reflections.

The Osprey 10 measures the rotation of polarized light in nanometers along with all types of distortion.

The Osprey10 Transmissive Distortion provides real time, on-line inspection of transmitted distortion (refractive power) of flat glass and plastic sheets.

Transmitted distortion is measured over 100% of the product in diopters. The results are displayed in real time via refractive power map (left).

OBR is a LiteSentry proprietary quality test coupled with a cutting-edge neural network design that recognizes bowed or bi-stable pieces of glass in real-time and displays results alongside other Osprey data before pieces are removed from the furnace unload table.

Anisotropy and distortion are NOT the same

Some inspection systems that measure anisotropy claim to be able to predict and measure distortion, however anisotropy and distortion are two very different properties that require different measurements to catch defective parts.

Assumptions based on data from current Osprey users:

Typical replacement costs reflect a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial products
12,500 square meters (134,000 sf) per month typical production through tempering plant
Average total value of tempered product (including glass and tempering cost) = $10/square meter ($.95/sf)
Labor cost including salary and benefits = $50,000/year

Osprey 10 Inspections systems – Featuring the only optical technology that measures all forms of distortion.

Osprey® is designed to improve your bottom line and advance your opportunities with its complete, precise, and accurate inspections.

“After installing our Osprey systems, quench breakage dropped from 4% to 1%! The Osprey gives us the process control we lacked before installing the systems.”

T. Moore, General Manager, Glass u0026 Mirror Craft

“The Osprey is an absolutely critical tool for managing the furnace recipes and operation.”

K. Petersen, Cardinal LG

“After moving to our new plant (and prior to reinstalling the Osprey) we had to run without the Osprey, and we were running blind. We didn’t know what we were making!”

T. Kelley, Owner, Tristar Glass, Tulsa, Oklahoma

“The Osprey helps us after furnace maintenance. Recently during maintenance a ceramic roller was mispositioned on a saddle bearing. Immediately upon startup we saw the problem on the Osprey and corrected the problem before making lots of bad glass.”

C. Wencl, Tempering Process Engineer, Viracon, Minnesota

“The Osprey brings out the most minute change in recipes. The operator can see the change, learn from it and react.”

J. Wrenn, Plant Manager, Trulite Glass u0026 Aluminum Solutions
